Homemade Glass Cleaner Recipe

Eureka! I've found it! I came across a homemade glass cleaner recipe that costs pennies and REALLY does CLEAN your windows. Ones I've tried in the past made me go back to store bought, but not this one. And it costs just a few cents to make!

Glass Cleaner

1/4 cup rubbing alcohol

1/4 cup white vinegar

1 Tbsp. cornstarch

2 cups warm water

Shake before each use.

Directions: Mix ingredients and pour in a recycled spray bottle, (or you can pick one up at the local hardware if you don't have one on hand).  The recipe is a good size to copy and print for use as a label for your bottle. Then you don't have to spend time searching when your bottle runs empty.

Some folks like to clean with newspaper to avoid streaks, and as a penny pincher, I sometimes do that. I've found a clean soft cloth works (or paper towels), then add a final polish with a piece of newspaper. You may want to wear gloves since it will make your hands black, and if you do the entire washing process with newsprint, it can leave black smudges on your white window panes.

To make it easy on myself and others when we run out,
I attached the recipe to the bottle with some clear packing tape.

  1. Hi Heather!

LOVE the blog! And the cow! I've had a rooster on the porch, but never a cow! :-D

I'll have to try that glass cleaner recipe... I've made them too, but kept going back to store-bought. Cornstarch is a new addition, though!

P.S. I got you bookmarked so I can visit again! Take care!
